First Accident Reported at Depot
New Hampshire Sentinel, August 25, 1881 – Troy – Arthur Jarvis, a son of John Jarvis, a lad about eleven years old, was run over at the depot last Friday while attempting to cross the track on the way to the tannery with his father’s and brother’s dinner. His right leg was nearly cut off a little below the knee, and his shoulder bone broken, besides other bruises. Dr. Stone, assisted by Dr. Bridgeman of Keene, amputated the limb, but the boy never recovered from the first shock, and died that night. We are informed that this is the first fatal accident that has happened at this depot.
